I think I was wrapping up loose ends at work...Australians don't celebrate the 4th, so nothing special.

Nope

Definitely not! I was probably wrapped up in blankets and warm clothes since it was winter.

AUGUST

1. What was your favorite summer memory of '08?
I loved that time...hung out with great friends, played bball, quit my job, went to Bali and moved back to the US. ha, busy!

A slight one when I went to Bali.

3. Did you go to the pool a lot?
Seeing as it was winter, no.

SEPTEMBER

It was pretty good.

I like both.

I was in my first month of grad school.

I don't remember the last time I dressed up for Halloween. I think my last year of college in 2006 when Jeff and I dressed as twins.

What does this have to do with October? I like peanut M&Ms, hershey milk choc bar with almonds..I'm not really a huge candy fan. I like salty stuff.

NOVEMBER

My mom and dad's in Florida

I never really did until this year..my mom made a cornbread and sausage stuffing. YUM.

Yep..but we're pretty low key.

Money was probably the highlight. My husband is great at picking out gifts that I would NEVER pick for myself (and not in a good way lol)

Time with family and friends. This will be the first Christmas with my family in 3 years.

A break from school and spending time at home

so i'm at work. all the upper level management people are at a "management summit" to plan for the 07-08 financial year. i must say that i'm bored out of my mind. we've been so busy at work the past couple of weeks. it's finally slowed down. i think that the management people should be gone more often, though. there were tons of parking spaces, we get to dress casually, and i can look around on the internet as long as a i like.

for Christmas I got a Macbook. i LOVE it. i've been searching high and low for a laptop bag that i love. at first i was thinking i'd like one that looked professional, yet stylish. the more i think about it, the more i want just a cute bag that would work well with travel. sure i could get a cute bag that would be appropriate for work, but i never need to bring it to work. i have a computer here. we're not on wireless or anything..so it would be pointless. the real reason i need a bag is to transport it when i go to the in-laws' or when i travel home/abroad.

while i've been on the quest for a cute laptop bag, i've also been trying to find a laptop sleeve just so i'd have something to protect my computer in the meantime. I found this> http://www.isiscovers.com/m.html. it's the one on the bottom left. it should be here in a couple of days. i'm really excited. i've been browsing zappos.com (i just thought to look there yesterday..where was my head?! i've been searching with no success for so long and i've found quite a few that i like on zappos!) i like this one http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/17062106/c/74785.html, but for travel purposes i don't think that would be a good idea. shoulder straps can really be uncomfortable when you have a lot in the bag. but i do like it! maybe i'll get it just to have. :) this is the one i'm thinking about getting http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/19555739/c/396.html. i really like it in green, but i feel like i'll be in green overload if i get it. my nano is green. my laptop sleeve is green polka dot. I was thinking about getting the blue one. i kind of like the white one, but i don't know how practical that would be considering i'll be using it primarily for travel. it'll get dirty pretty quickly i think. the bag has had good reviews, which is a plus. any opinions?? i just don't want a boring, black laptop bag. i was kind of tempted to get a laptop backpack, but they're not nearly as cute as i was hoping.

well, i should maybe do some work. maybe. :)

Christmas was good this year. I miss my family and friends, but I'm thankful that I have a caring support group here. We woke up and went to Dave's parent's house. Dave's dad made breakfast (french toast and bacon), we talked to my parents on the phone for a little while and hung out for a couple of hours. Dave's brother John, who lives in Indonesia, came home on Christmas day at around noon, so at noon we opened our presents. I bought Dave a Nintendo Wii and he (and his parents) got me a MacBook (which I'm on right now and LOVE)! My parents sent us a little package with money and my mom got us two really pretty swarovski ornaments--one "L" and one "D." I got a bunch of random stuff, too. It was nice. I love giving people presents.

We had a "New Orleans" themed dinner of gumbo, ribs, chicken, salad and potatos. YUMMY. I love left over gumbo. It's so good. It was a nice day overall.

My friend Amy is going to be here in a couple of days. She's up in Brisbane right now. I'm really excited to see her. I really miss my friends. Well, It's almost 1 am and I'm getting really tired, so I should go. (That's the bad thing about wireless internet..I find myself on it constantly since it's so easy to lounge around and be online) Hope everyone had a great Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Ok, not really. I just never have time, energy or motivation to do this. This is one of the only sites that interests me that isn't blocked at work, though.

I don't remember the last time I updated, but I know it was a loong time ago. I got married, honeymooned and moved to Australia. There's an update for ya.

It took me a good 3 months and a lot of sifting through jobs that claimed to be one thing, but ended up totally different to find a job. I work for a national retail chain (The Good Guys) in the corporate offices in the marketing department. I'm a PR and Promotions Assistant. It's a good job and it's definitely a great startig point for me since I want to be in PR in the long run. As of right now, I'm on a three month trial with view to perm. I've been here for a little over a month now and am doing well. I'm much happier since getting a job. I think I was getting a little down. It's hard to be a smart, educated, hard-working college grad who can't find a job.

I was beginning to make an escape plan. I started thinking about how I could go back to school and be a PE teacher. (That would have only taken one year of additional school here) Sometimes, that still sounds like a good idea to me. I'd get to play all day. How fun would that be?

Anyways. Dave and I have a really nice "house." I call it a "house" because here they call it a unit, but it's really like a house. It's a 2 (opt. 3) bedroom, 1 bath, large dining/living area, big kitchen, office room. It's about 2 years old. We're the second people to live in it and before us, it was an older woman. It's nice. I think we might stay in it for a couple of years, depending on where Dave gets a teaching position.

Speaking of which, Dave is going back to school to become an Art/Media studies teacher. He's applied and is just waiting to hear if he got in the program. (Which there is no reason why he shouldn't) So in a year's time, he'll be in a perm, full-time job. FINALLY. It's taken him a while to really figure out what he wants to do with his life. I think that he's a little nervous about going back, but he is a really good teacher. He's so patient with people. And the kids will be scared of him because he's soo tall. :)

So I've been casually looking around for cars. We only have one and it's kind of hard to coordinate our schedules so it works out and we can both do what we want to, when we want. I really like the new Toyota Yaris. I originally was looking in to buying a used car, but all of the good, reliable ones (that are around a few years old) run for about $AU18k. A brand new Yaris (automatic) is $AU19,190 ($US14,500). That's only $AU1k more. Everyone I know who has a Toyota loves it. They're reliable and run forever. I think I want to invest a little more and get a car that will really last. (And is cute..obviously.) I've done some reading up on reviews for the car and it's been very well received. Apparently it gets very good mileage and people usually end up saving a lot of money. We'll see. I'm going to talk to my father in law about it (He's an accountant-good with money) to see if it's doable.

and I'm going to China! I don't know how much I've written about this (probably not a lot since I NEVER update anymore), but I have been involved in a research project for well over a year about advertising in China. We applied for a grant to do on-site research (against about 50 other schools) and got it! The proposal for this project was about 10 pages long and super-detailed (it had to be b/c of requirements from AsiaNetwork). We submitted it in November and we weren't supposed to hear back until March 15th or so, but we found out today! We got about $20,000 and all expenses are paid. We don't even have to pay for the cost of food. We'll be leaving around May 22nd (the day after I graduate) and will be back in Mid-June (a little over 2 weeks before our wedding.) Dave and his family will most likely be getting in to the U.S. the day after I get back from China. It's going to be a crazy, crazy time getting all of this organized. I'm excited though!!

i'm going to nyc in just over one day! i'm so excited to see ashley. i miss her a lot. :)
i really want to shop, see things that are on TV and movies and just enjoy seeing people i don't get to see that often.

on another note..i've been kind of sad lately. i usually don't get too down about the whole dave situation, but lately i've just missed him a lot. it's weird b/c none of my friends, no matter how much i love them, can really fill the strange void i feel when he's not around.

so tennis started last night. can i just say that i ran the slowest mile of my life. i'm so depressed. ok, not really, but my time did suck. in high school i ran a 7:30 mile. not amazing, but good. i've added about a minute and a half. ick. we also did some circuit training. i liked it. i'm def. a little sore today, but nothing unbearable.

i really really really want to go to australia now. i wish that december would hurry up and get here so i can leave. i'm so glad i'll get to be in summer for a month. it will be a welcomed break from the horrible winters up here in ohio. it was our 3 year anniversary on the 9th. i can't remember what night that was, but i think i went out and partied with some friends. i got pretty trashed on thursday with jeff and alaina. we went down to the brewery and sang some kareoke...gotta love belting some michael jackson...then we went to another bar called the townhouse. jeff tried getting up on some guy in the bar. they were talking for a long time, but the guy wasn't gay and didn't realize jeff wanted him. haha. i love jeff. i had to walk him home that night and get him in bed. he was so wasted. he didn't even remember half the night the next day and missed his first class because he set his alarm for p.m. instead of a.m. it's so funny when he's drunk. he kisses all of his girlfriends then goes and hits on the guys. oh and he yells at people for being republicans. some guy said hi to us and he goes "REPUBLICAN!!!!!!!!!" and stumbles away. no hi. nothing. just "republican." friday all the girls went out to dinner at tampicos. afterwards, i hung out with jeff while he was on duty. we watched some will and grace, of course. (that's our show) then i went to bed. saturday was the continuation of the sternwheel festival. we had an oxo game night in our apartment then went down and got pierced, watched the fireworks and hung out downtown and went back to the apartment with some people. i was pretty tired.

my phone hasn't been working. i can make calls but i can't receive, which explains a lot. i tried calling katie at sternwheel a few times, but she never called back. so i went back home and saw that i had voicemail. i had like 4 messages from different people trying to get a hold of me. my phone never rings though. i called cingular today and they fixed the problem. so now i won't be missing people's calls! yay. ok well i think i'm done. i need to do homework.

so i got the underneath of my tongue pierced last night. alaina got her nose pierced and two of our other friends both got their bellybuttons pierced (one on the top and one on the bottom). it was fun. it didn't hurt and it still doesn't. it's just a little sore, but that's all. i have no problem eating or speaking. i like it. tennis preseason starts tomorrow. i'm going to be so sore. i have been really horrible at working out. it ought to be interesting. ok well, that's all really. my life consists of school and homework. boring.

i bought a necklace very similar to this today. the difference with mine is that it alternates from round diamonds to baguette diamonds. it was an impulse buy. i've been wanting a necklace like this for a while, so i finally caved and bought it on sale for only $99! who can beat that? i love diamonds. it will match my engagement ring nicely. hahaha.

I really like this site. It's a shame that people don't realize that it's meant to be satire. It brings up a lot of different social issues. Read the letters section. Some people really think that this site was created by two white people who are bragging about having black friends. It'd be a great sociology project. Funny.
